Made slowly. Worn proudly. A creative studio for textile art and clothing in Vienna.
At the heart of studio Achterkant are the pieces themselves: one-of-a-kind garments, original fibre and pigment art, and distinctive objects for the home. Each one is made by hand, from natural, reclaimed and honest materials — linen and wool chosen to age beautifully and colours from real pigments. These pieces are made to be worn, loved and repaired rather than replaced.
Each piece is unique and has it's own story to tell.
Made to measure holds a special place here. It is for anyone whose way of dressing doesn't follow the norms the world expects of their body — a garment cut to your measure, your lines and your life, from first sketch to final fitting.
This is a queer-owned studio and a queer space, and everyone who stands beside us is welcome. Fibre and textile knowledge is never gate kept here — it belongs to everyone.
Classes
The studio is also a place of learning. In small groups or one-to-one, I teach sewing and painting and handcrafts step by step, no experience needed — patiently explained, technically sound, and with genuine joy in the work.
The workshop programme for 2027 is currently taking shape; if you'd like to hear about it first, sign up for our newsletter.
Location
The studio lives at Louvart Atelier — a shared sewing atelier in Vienna's eighth district, where small textile labels and independent makers work side by side. Sharing a space is part of the idea: tools, skills and company, kept in circulation.
As it's a working studio rather than a shop, visits are by arrangement — for pieces, fittings or workshops, simply
